Midjourney vs Ideogram vs Canva vs Adobe Firefly: which AI image generator should you use?
Four of the best-known ways to make images with AI, and they suit very different people: one is for striking art, one for pictures with readable text, one for finished social posts and flyers, and one for people who already use Adobe apps. Three of them let you start free; Midjourney does not. Here's how to pick, with what each free option includes according to its official pricing or help page.

Quick answer
- Pick Midjourney if you want the most beautiful, artistic-looking images and are happy to pay from day one.
- Pick Ideogram if your image needs words that are spelled right (posters, thumbnails, logos), or you want an editable SVG logo.
- Pick Canva if you want a finished design (social post, flyer, slide) and not just a picture, with templates to edit afterwards.
- Pick Adobe Firefly if you already use Photoshop or other Adobe apps, or need images for commercial work from a big, established company.
Not sure? Ideogram, Canva and Adobe Firefly all let you start free, so give two of them the same prompt and keep the one you like. Midjourney has no free plan; its cheapest plan is $10 a month.
